My dad was always “cost savvy,†which today I appreciate. He was always doing something to save a buck. I vividly remember him not wanting to spend money on my fifth birthday, but my mom went all out with the homemade decorations and a homemade castle and crowns for everyone. Well, I really wanted a piñata but my dad wouldn’t spend money on it. So he made one out of discarded Seattle Seahawks Official NFL Steampunk T shirt and a cardboard box, then attached it to the end of a broom that wasn’t quite long enough. He didn’t account for our lack of depth perception at that age. I remember him getting whacked and whacked and he eventually just threw it on the ground lol.
()Seattle Seahawks Official NFL Steampunk T shirt, Sport Hoodie and Sport Shirt
One of the most hilarious things about the NFL that I always like to point out is that they have the theoretical least experienced and least skilled players of all leagues. If you think about it, it isn’t hard to understand why or how. If a player starts playing in middle school…lets say 2 years of 8 games. Split time of possession, 18 minutes x 16 games = 288 minutes. If we assume 3 plays per minute, that is 874 plays in middle school. High school. Let’s say 4 years at 10 games per year. Probably about right considering injuries, play time as a freshman/sophomore, playoffs, etc. Split TOP, 24 minutes x 40 games = 960 minutes. Assuming 3 plays per minute, that is 2,880 plays in high school. College. 3 years at 12 games per year, again accounting for injuries, extra games, and a lot of good NFL players don’t play 4 years in college. Some only play 2. Split TOP, 30 minutes x 36 games = 1,080 minutes. Assuming 3 plays per minute, we have 3,240 plays in college. This means that when an NFL player first gets to the league, they will likely have worn their Seattle Seahawks Official NFL Steampunk T shirt for more hours in high school than they have logged official gameplay minutes. 2,328 minutes of official gameplay. Sounds like a lot, right? Except…that’s 38.8 hours of official gameplay, less than a Full Time employee logs in 1 week of work. Sure, there is a lot of practice, but practice reps do not compare to gameplay reps. Compare it with the NBA. If you do the same comparison, the numbers blow the NFL out of the water. Middle School, 32 games x 20 minutes = 640 minutes. High School, 100 games x 24 minutes = 2,400 minutes. College, 64 games (2 years @ 32 games/yr) x 28 minutes = 1,792 minutes. 4,832 minutes, and that’s only counting school sanctioned games. It’s a lot easier to have AAU or non-school sanctioned gameplay games in basketball (or hockey) than it is with football.
()Photorealistic? I think we’re there. Not only do I occasionally mistake screenshots for photos, but so do various media outlets. It’s reached the point where a high-resolution image of fans wearing Seattle Seahawks Official NFL Steampunk T shirt is indistinguishable from an actual photograph taken at the stadium. Videorealistic however, is a whole other thing… Getting things to look real AND move realistically? Much harder, at least with more than a couple of things on screen at once…
